Embellish Life Reboot

reboot
Lifestyle, Fashion, Home and Beauty; welcome to Embellish Life Reboot. I’m back!!! And ready to go…

I am, super excited to present the updated Embellish Life after my summer slowdown and rejuvenation. I’m still working hard on getting my body and health back on track and I’m a strong 50% on my way and very encouraged. This progress has given me a new found energy and focus to share with you my vision for Embellish Life and to continue to uplift and support women. I am in my second half of my life and I have not let a predetermined number or age dictate what I do, wear, accomplish or try and I would like to encourage anyone who watches me to reach beyond their limits and Embellish their Life too.

This Channel is for all women, of all ages, places, backgrounds, and stages. It is my opinion, that women should support each other and share their knowledge as a collective group, lifting up one another as we try to rise to the next goal or achievement, encouraging and helping women just starting out either in business or life so that they can soar far beyond our wildest dreams, because it is the ones that succeed that will be our champions and future. This is my dream for Embellish Life, a place you can come and receive that support, friendship, information and inspiration. A place that might make your life a little easier so you can go out in the world and take it by storm. A place that could help you feel a little more confident in you and give you that extra push to apply for the dream job or ask for the raise. A place where you know you’re not alone because others have felt that, done that, or had that happen to them too. A place where you can learn to make or do something that you never had the talent to do and check off something fun on your Bucket List! Bottom Line; a place you can come and know you are safe and you have friends!

I encourage you to visit my YouTube Channel, Embellish Life on YouTube , and also continue to explore the Embellish Life Blog site for some great posts and interesting features. Embellish Life Blog has been operational for quite a few years now so many of the blog post are covering issues, DIY’s, events and topics occurring before the YouTube Channel was even an idea. Exploring the website will give you a deeper understanding of the beginning of Embellish Life, some contextual reference, a lot of fun photos, and an insight into many of my videos that will allow you to feel like an “inner circle” friend.

500 Subbies Ask Me Anything!

Snapshot_11I had a Giveaway on my YouTube channel for my subscribers to thank them for supporting me and to celebrate reaching over 500 subscribers. I gave away a wonderful tote filled with all sorts of beauty and fashion items; if you would like to see go and check out the video, I will leave a link shortly. To be a part of the Giveaway I asked my subscribers, you did have to be a subscriber to take part, I asked my subscribers to ask me any question they would like to know about me. Since I am a newish channel I thought this would be a fun way to get to know each other better. It is my goal with Embellish Life to create a community of individuals that can learn and grow together and feel comfortable together. I feel that the only way you can do that is if you put yourself out there and are willing to let yourself be known. Show everyone what you are all about, I think false assumptions are the biggest mistakes people can make and can also get people into the most trouble… You know what they say about “Assume” ing anything… LOL Anyway, even though the giveaway is all over my video on all the answers to all the great questions that my subscribers asked me is all completed. It is a great insight into who I am, what I am doing with Embellish Life, a little bit about my family and how I got to where I am today; if you are interested.

Finding The Perfect Man

Snapshot_28
Sometimes it is hard enough to find the perfect shoes to go with an outfit… Finding the perfect man, I can’t even imagine what it would be like now to date… I watch my oldest son and have mixed emotions. I raised him to be a gentleman and a perfect catch and many times I see him passed over, for the “jerk”. I found my perfect guy 36 years ago and although I did know it at the time circumstance and timing allowed ten years to pass before we actually married. We did date 6 of the 10 years and remained friends the other 4 years so our story is unique, as is everyone’s love story; that is what makes them so much fun to hear. Want to hear my story on how I found my perfect guy? You can here the whole story on my YouTube video: Soulful Sunday – Finding the Perfect Guy!

I am not one to give out dating or marriage advice per se; it is my personal opinion, unless you are a professional, there are just too many unknown variables that can influence who is perfect for one person to the next. That being said, the one constant that I have found for myself and the other long term relationship people I have encountered in my lifetime is one very important ingredient is being with your best friend! Making any relationship work ANY RELATIONSHIP takes compromise, listening (from both parties), work (from both sides but some times not the same amount at the same time), and personally I think the biggest one is FRIENDSHIP. To me without a strong foundation of friendship all the rest will just prop up a week structure; maybe for a long time if you work really hard at it, maybe forever, then the question is, are you happy? I think when you are involved in a long term relationship with your best friend all the work, and there is work involved, is way more fun at times and tolerable in other times. Well, I guess for not giving advice that was a lot of it… Or maybe just a long winded way of saying, you may have all sorts of criteria for what is the “Perfect Guy” is, make sure the one thing that is on the top of your list is he is your Best Friend and a lot of the rest will just fall into place!

The Happy Mommy Place

I had a moment today that took me to my “Happy Mommy Place”.  I think as parents we all have these moments strategically positioned in our lives to erase all the bad moments that happen while we parent.  I think it is an evolutionary process that perpetuates the human race, for without it, parents, especially mothers; would never keep having children.  It starts with the selective memory of child birth; we all forget the pain, weight gain, and nasty bodily functions (all of them) very soon after giving birth.  True, it takes some of us longer than others and some of us never forget.  Those of us who do experience selective amnesia; we have 2, 4, 6, 19 (don’t even get me started…) children and only remember the “wonder of childbirth”; of course only till it happens again and then scream… “What *&#** was I thinking…” and soon after you look into those beautiful eyes… you forget all the bad and go to the “Happy Mommy Place”.  Over the years we move in and out of the “Happy Mommy Place” which is the one place that keeps us from “killing” our children 😉  I know it sounds bad, but be honest, you know it is true, we have all been there, that moment just before you go over the edge with frustration and insanity, that we remember the “Happy Mommy Place” and decide against dropping our teenage child off and having them walk the remaining 10 miles home, on the freeway, in the rain… Deep breaths 😉

We have more of these “Happy Mommy Place” moments when our children are young:  first steps, first words, and first “I love you”, heck, first anything when they are young is news worthy…  This is in preparation for their teen years.  Really, we need a stock piled arsenal ready to get us through puberty… Think about it, most teens would never see Twenty if we didn’t remember when they were young, cute, innocent, sweet… POLITE!

My moments, seem to be coming more often now with my youngest son who is 16.  This is a good sign; when my oldest son started to “mellow” around this age we knew that we were leaving the hormonal part of puberty and moving into a more pleasant parenting stage; not perfect just a bit more pleasant  ;-).  This leads me to my “Happy Mommy Place” moment.

Today was just one of those bad days.  I felt tired, old, fat, gross and grumpy.  I had to get groceries before picking my son up from school.  I was on a deadline and trying to focus on not forgetting anything on my list and in my head.  I vaguely noticed an older gentleman crossing my path a few times smiling and once mentioning all the “bargains”.  Totally not sure what he was talking about and too focused to figure it out, I smiled, agreed and kept on going.  In the check-out line I noticed him again as he hustled to stand behind me… Uh oh, now I’m getting that creepy feeling, regardless of how old he was, I was just a bit uncomfortable.  He engaged me in small talk and I remained distant by polite.  He finished checking out; I let him go first, smaller load and I wanted him through the line.  As he was leaving he turned and walked back through the isle and said, “How would you like to go have some coffee and talk after this?”  REALLY!!  Nice, I guess, but, OMG he was at least 80!  This was not really what I needed at the moment; I needed 35 and “hot” to pick me up.  This was just… SAD.  I declined and hurried off to pick up my son from school.

On our way home I recapped the “funny” story to him.  I told him he would love it; anticipating the idea of any man, let alone an 80 year old man, picking up his mother would be hysterical.  I finished the story with, “And he was at least 80 years old; that is as good as I get.” 😉

He barely took a breath before he answered, “Smart man!  He has good taste.”  I nearly hit the parked car on the curb turning to look at him?!?!

“Oh My Gosh, that was so nice, I needed to hear that today, thank you so much!” I said, still a bit surprised by his sincere and mater-of-fact delivery.  He really meant it 🙂

“You are not going to get all weepy and weird on me are you?”  He shot back with a bit too much disgust And… the moment was gone 😉
